Ms. Nichole Smart, JP, Cert. (Nursing Administration), RM

Miss Nichole Smart is a Registered Midwife with over twenty years of clinical and supervisory experience in midwifery. She brings her expertise in midwifery practice and professional oversight to her role as a Council Member, where she serves as Co-Chair of the Verification Committee, contributing directly to the review and verification of credentials for nurses and midwives seeking professional registration to practise in Jamaica.

Her professional responsibilities encompass the provision and coordination of maternal and child health services, including clinics, home visits, clinical deliveries, high-risk referrals, and statutory reporting. In her supervisory capacities, Miss Smart provides vital mentorship to midwifery students, nursing students, and medical interns, while overseeing Level 2 Midwives and ancillary support staff. Academically, she earned her Certificate in Midwifery from the Kingston School of Nursing and a Certificate in Nursing Administration from the Ministry of Health and Wellness In-Service Education Unit.

Commissioned as a Justice of the Peace following specialized training at the Justice Training Institute, Miss Smart regularly serves in the Lay Magistrate Courts. She remains deeply engaged in civic and regional advocacy, serving as an Executive Member of both the Jamaica Midwives’ Association and the Mistyblue Cancer Care Foundation, alongside sitting on the Regulatory Committee of the Caribbean Regional Midwives Association. Mirroring her public service, she also serves as the Sunday School Superintendent at the United Pentecostal Christian Church of God.
