Zada Mulrain, MPH, BScN, RSCN, DPSN, RN, RM

Mrs. Zada Mulrain is a Lecturer at the Excelsior Community College School of Nursing in Kingston, Jamaica. She is a trained nurse, certified teacher and counsellor, who holds academic and professional accreditations from the University of the West Indies (MPH), the University of Central England, UK (PDSN & BSc. Hons), the Sorrento Maternity Hospital in Birmingham, UK (SCM, ENB -Neonatal Intensive Care Cert.), the Queen Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, UK (RSCN), and the University Hospital of the West Indies (RGN).

She brings a wealth of experience to the Council, having been active in the practice of nursing, midwifery and care of the neonate, not only in Jamaica, but also in the United Kingdom, the Caribbean’s French and Creole speaking Republic of Haiti and Antigua. She is multi-lingual and fluent in French and Haitian Creole.

She was previously a Lecturer and Clinical Coordinator at the University of the West Indies (UWI) School of Nursing, Mona. As a former Director of Nursing and Midwifery Education at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) she was instrumental in  the transition of the Nursing education from a hospital certified programme to a university accredited degree at the University of the West Indies. She was also a member of the Planning committee for the Programme for the Reduction of Maternal and Child Mortality (PROMAC) study initiated by the Ministry of Health.

Mrs. Mulrain is a former Associate Professor and Programme Director at American University of Antigua (AUA) School of Nursing, Antigua, she has served as Trainer of Trainers for BLS/ACLS at the AUA School of Medicine. She has also served as Board member and Secretary for St. John’s (Ambulance) Association. Mrs. Mulrain has served as Haitian Coordinator – World Vision International (International Child Advocacy Organisation) and has served at Grace Children’s Hospital (Port-au-Prince); she was a Nurse coordinator for Rural clinics (Cap-Hatien).

She is an active member of the Providence Methodist Church in Kingston.
